ORIGINAL STATE
We received the car from the owner, he had invested a good amount of money in its restoration but the results were lackluster.
After running some checkups we found it couldn’t be fueled due to position of the gas tank. It was located above the nozzle.
It also had a lot of corrosion and many parts where patched superficially with body putty, which were coming off. The cabin was in bad shape and deformed. This happened due to errors in the assembly with the chassis. The truck’s bed had many parts assembled only with paste and it was practically breaking apart.
DEEP RESTORATION PROCESS
We started by disassembling the whole car. The chassis we did weld alignment and we changed some of its parts, we applied anticorrosive paint afterwards. We corrected the engine and did several adjustments like proper service to the transmission and the gearbox, ensuring the proper assembly of the parts. We eliminated the engine’s electronic injection and adapted fuel injection to recover the essence of an antique car.
The cabin was properly aligned to allow the correct assembly with the chassis. We did adjustments to the bodywork, fabricated the original door design and changing the canvases. Due to the state of disrepair, the truck’s bed had to be scrapped and completely rebuilt. All the original accessories of the corresponding year were found through specialized stores in the United States.
We proceeded to part and trim assembly, prior to the paint process, in order to avoid scratch damage. After assembly we proceeded to paint the truck. The harness was rebuilt and accessories and components were put together. On the truck’s bed we installed appropriate woodwork for outdoors.
After assembly we proceeded to do functionality tests and test-drives, in order to corroborate the conditions of the truck. After passing these evaluations, the truck is ready to be delivered. After demonstrating the results of our method and knowledge, our client was highly satisfied with the job done. He has given us another restoration project, a Ford Mercury Montclair.
